This morning, take a taxi (approx. $15–20) to the hydrofoil ferry terminal and sail across the Ionian Sea to Albania (45 min), arriving in Saranda (ferry tickets approx. $30–40 per person). Upon arrival, collect your rental car at the ferry port and journey inland to the UNESCO-listed town of Gjirokastër, renowned for its remarkably preserved Ottoman architecture. Explore a traditional tower house with a local guide, gain insight into the region’s rich cultural heritage, and enjoy coffee traditionally roasted over an open fire and prepared “on the stone.”

Today is yours to discover Albania’s vibrant capital or join an optional excursion. You may choose to immerse yourself in Tirana’s dynamic energy—stroll through Skanderbeg Square, browse the colorful stalls of Pazari i Ri (New Bazaar), or simply soak up the city’s lively atmosphere.

Alternatively, we highly recommend an excursion to Krujë, the legendary mountain stronghold of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg. Wander through the atmospheric Old Bazaar, renowned for its traditional handicrafts, explore the imposing Krujë Castle, and visit the excellent Skanderbeg Museum to learn more about the country’s rich history.

In the evening, perhaps enjoy a farewell dinner with your travel companions at the lively Tirana Castle complex, now home to a variety of excellent restaurants, cafés, and local gathering spots.
